Well this was a surprisingly nice twist. During Wednesday night's American Horror Story: Freak Show episode "Blood Bath," fans finally discovered who gave Elsa her fake legs after they'd been sawed off during a snuff film. We know her soldier client was the one who found and saved her, but there was another man who gave her the ability to walk again and it was not, as some have suspected, Asylum 's Dr. Arthur Arden. But that doesn't mean it wasn't still a familiar face. In fact, it was none other than Danny Huston, better known as the Axeman from Coven . But this time, instead of wielding a mighty axe, a sander and chisel were his weapons of choice given that his character, Massimo, was a highly skilled prosthetics expert. (The AHS version of Pinocchio's Geppetto, if you will.)
There had been whispers that Huston had been seen around the Freak Show set, though honestly I thought he may have just been visiting Jessica Lange. The two of them have been spotted together numerous times and have grown mighty close since their romantic tryst in Coven. Nevertheless, his presence was more than welcome, however, it makes me wonder whatever became of Elsa's savior since then.
Did she brush him aside when he no longer was of any use to her? Did they fall in love, but she eventually chose fame over him, as she's done so many times before? Elsa's backstory has proven to be just as intriguing as it is downright horrifying. But if it means we'll get more screen time with Huston I'd say that maybe it's a price worth paying. Maybe.
