7 Brangelina Wedding Facts That Are Totally Quirky

by Martha Sorren

It's the start of a new era for Brangelina, who finally got married after nine years of hinting that they never would. And when they tied the knot, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's wedding was full of quirky details. How could it not have been? This is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie we're talking about. The couple has never been traditional, something that Jolie is the first to admit. "Usually people fall in love and everything revolves around the ritual of marriage. Children are an afterthought,” she once told Italian Vanity Fair. ”We did everything backwards.”

So they may be married now, but their ceremony bucked tradition in all the best ways, from the dress to the music to what they're doing with the money from the People spread. In exchange for exclusive pictures of the gown and ceremony, People gave the couple a speculated $20 million. Instead of pocketing the cash, though, it's likely the pair will donate it like they have with their past People magazine money. Sigh. Are they not just the best couple?

I'm not much for weddings, but I have to admit, I loved how Brad and Angie's was done with style featuring plenty of unique-to-them moments likes these:

BRAD WAS THE WEDDING BAND

Instead of hiring a fancy orchestra to play the iconic "Wedding March," According to Us Weekly, Jolie walked down the aisle to her husband humming "Here comes the bride."

THE KIDS MADE THEIR MARK ON THE DRESS

If ever I have kids before I get married I'm copying Jolie's dress idea because it is too cute. She let her little ones draw sketches which were later added to the back of her simple white gown. She's officially the coolest parent to let one of her children write "Buttock Fatock" on her veil.

THE CAKE WAS COOKED BY PAX

In line with keeping things in the family, Jolie and Pitt's wedding cake was baked by their son Pax. I'm sure it tasted even better considering it was baked with love.

BRAD WAS DRESSED BY HIS SON

Guess what Pitt reportedly forgot to bring to his secret ceremony? A tie! Fortunately he was able to borrow one from one of his sons to keep the affair classy.

ANGELINA WASN'T GIVEN AWAY BY HER FATHER

Jolie and her father, Jon Voight, have a strained relationship so it wasn't surprising that he didn't walk her down the aisle. Instead People says Jolie was given away by sons Maddox and Pax, which is even sweeter.

THE BOUQUET WAS WILD

Flower girls Zahara and Vivienne picked buds from their garden the morning of the wedding, which means Jolie probably had one of the freshest, most natural bouquets a bride can have.

THE KIDS HELPED WITH THE VOWS

Again, another idea I would totally steal from the couple. Instead of using standard vows, People reports that Jolie and Pitt let their kids weigh in on what their parents should say.

What a special day for the whole family. Also are the Jolie-Pitt kids available to do my wedding? When it comes time, I want a ceremony just as intimate and sweet as the one the kids helped to plan.
