Now She's Dissing Selena Gomez
Other than unicorns, leprechauns, and centaurs, I call for the definition of mythical creature to be updated to include the fortunate being that has yet to find itself on the receiving end of Joan Rivers' wrath. By now, I'm quite convinced that no one on earth, or anywhere else in this entire universe, will be excluded from what seems like her infinite hit list. So I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to learn that Rivers completely went off on Selena Gomez.
While offering her opinion on the ongoing Gaza conflict, Rivers took the opportunity to question Gomez's intelligence by sarcastically referring to the 22-year-old singer/actress as "that college grad," and questioning whether Gomez, who recently commented on the conflict herself, could even spell. However, if Rivers wants anyone to believe that she didn't deserve to be called negative by a CNN reporter, then personally attacking Gomez won't help her case—not that anyone thought Rivers walking off the set of an interview made sense in the first place.
Frankly, Rivers pattern of attacking random people with little to no provocation is beyond stale. As a comedian, she should pride herself on keeping her material fresh. It wasn't funny when Rivers attacked Lena Dunham by accusing the Girls actress of being some sort of covert advocate for unhealthy eating, or when she insulted Gwyneth Paltrow's looks. And I couldn't help but scoff and roll my eyes when she said Jennifer Lawrence needed to grow up.
Gomez recently celebrated her 22nd birthday will pal Cara Delevingne and hopefully she continues enjoy that and let Rivers do what she does best: stew until she sets her sights upon the next target. Meanwhile, Rivers should probably work on a brand of humor that actually elicits laughter instead of issuing cringe-worthy insults that make her look like the butt of the joke.
