He's Got A Great Sad Face

by Christine DiStasio

I love an actor who knows his strengths. Mark Wahlberg knows that he's good at looking confused and Josh Hutcherson knows that Peeta's Sad Face is perhaps his greatest asset. I mean, have you seen Peeta's emotional performance in the new Mockingjay trailer? So, naturally, I'm not surprised that in the new trailer for Benicio Del Toro's Paradise Lost , Hutcherson's sad face steals the show.

First, I just have to ask — what's with Josh Hutcherson choosing these characters that end up with the short end of the stick in their relationships with influential women? In the Hunger Games trilogy, Peeta gets screwed over by Katniss in more ways than one, hence the perpetual sadness. And in Paradise Lost, Hutcherson's character Nick ends up wrapped up in Pablo Escobar's cocaine business when he starts dating the notorious drug lord's niece. Seriously, Hutcherson, you just don't have great taste in relationships.

And while the trailer is exciting, menacing, and glitzy, the crown jewel of the 32 seconds isn't Del Toro as Escobar, but the fact that not one, but THREE Peeta Sad Faces made it into the trailer. I didn't know there was a Colombia in Panem, but apparently Peeta's there now.
