Even though Ashlee Simpson once sang about how much she hated being in her big sis's shadow, it looks like she's following in Jessica's footsteps... at least when it comes to wedding planning. Jessica Simpson tied the knot over July 4th weekend, and reportedly, Ashlee Simpson is getting married on Labor Day to fiancé Evan Ross. Both chose to get hitched on a holiday which is a super smart strategy. Three-day weekends allow extra time for fun wedding festivities and their anniversaries are literally national holidays. Plus, getting married on Labor Day ensures she won't be breaking any rules about wearing white.
E! News reported exclusive details about the upcoming "eclectic, Bohemian-themed" ceremony. It's scheduled for Aug. 31 on Diana Ross' estate in Connecticut where there will be white lanterns hanging from tree branches. Apparently Evan's mother is playing a big role in the planning — and she's also performing! How's that for convenient wedding entertainment? The Daily Mail reports both Diana Ross and her daughter Rhonda Ross Kendrick will take the stage. Plus, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson are supposedly on the guest list. We're guessing they're friends of Ash's future mother-in-law and not just secret fans of her old MTV reality show.
The wedding will be Simpson's second. Back in 2008, she married Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. The two have a son together, Bronx Mowgli, who is now five. No one has said what Bronx's role will be in the wedding, but he'd make an adorable ring bearer. Nothing is cuter than a child in a mini tuxedo!
As for Ross, this is his first (and hopefully only) time getting married. And he couldn't be more excited! Ross told E! News,
Honestly, we could go and get married right now, wherever. We just want to be married. We're in love. This is the most incredible time I could ever think of in my life and I'm young, but the same time, I've lived a different life than most and I can't think of a happier moment.
