Kandi Burruss' Wedding Special Preview Spells Disaster, Plus 7 Celebrity Wedding Fails
What Kandi Burruss’ first Bravo spin-off lacked in interest (and ratings), her second Bravo show will surely make up for in unbelievable, wedding-variety drama. Bravo just released a preview of The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi's Wedding and it is absolutely insane. From future mothers-in-law and best friends butting heads to ridiculous bachelor parties, this wedding seems to be one step away from disaster. Hopefully, Burruss’ ceremony didn’t go the way of these 7 celebrities whose weddings were nearly derailed by mishaps.
Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott
Tori Spelling’s wedding drama would make for a great episode of Say Yes To the Dress, only if she hadn’t said no. Before her 2006 marriage to Dean McDermott, she encountered the David’s Bridal version of custom designers when she tried to return a dress she hated. Designer Randolph Duke didn’t care that Spelling called the dress “cheesy,” or that she’d made a $4700 deposit, forcing her to find another dress for the ceremony.
Katherine Heigl & Josh Kelley
It’s a wonder Katherine Heigl and singer Josh Kelley managed to make it down the aisle. Two days before exchanging vows, Kelley broke his nose in a skiing accident. He continued to fray the nerves of his new wife by losing his wedding band in the snow. But payback’s a bitch: He was probably just as unnerved when Heigl forgot her passport on the way to the airport, nearly missing the couple’s honeymoon.
John Legend & Chrissy Teigen
Soulful singer marries sexy Sports Illustrated model in Italy. What could go wrong with that picture? Well, John Legend’s 2013 wedding to Chrissy Teigen obviously angered Mother Nature, who unleashed a round of bad weather that resulted in a four-hour delay. Fortunately, cocktails kept the crowd around because who wouldn’t rather be drunk than drenched?
Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze
One has to wonder exactly what Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze did to get on Mother Nature’s bad side. Before the couple’s 2002 ceremony, an atmospheric admonishment came in the form of a hurricane, prompting them to move their celebration inside. And in a final act of disapproval, an earthquake hit the area the next day.
Bethenny Frankel & Jason Hoppy
Now everyone knows I’m a Bethenny fan so I hate to put her on this list. However, there’s just something about seeing a pregnant woman hike up her wedding dress to pee in a bucket right before she strolls down the aisle that is just not OK…I can’t even deal. We all know when you gotta go, you gotta go. But allowing this to be documented as a part of your most memorable wedding moments? Just, no.
Sean Penn & Madonna
We hate to drudge up this incident from 1985, but this wedding catastrophe is one for the record books. When Sean Penn married Madonna in Malibu, he temporarily revived the days of the Old West when he shot at media helicopters hoping to snap photos of what was supposed to be a 5-minute ceremony.
