This Fruit Juice Could Boost Your Sex Life

by Pamela J. Hobart

With summer fast approaching, cravings for fruity, refreshing drinks are going to hit any minute. When that happens, you may want to choose your fruit juice carefully — studies suggest that watermelon is "nature's Viagra." That's right: according to Italian researchers, citrulline (an amino acid found in high amounts in watermelon) can treat mild erectile dysfunction without side effects.

More generally, for the ladies and men who don't suffer from erectile dysfunction, citrulline acts as a blood flow improver. And, whatever's good for blood flow is good for your sex life: the journey from arousal to orgasm is basically one long episode of blood moving around your body rapidly and pleasurably, with special focus on the genitals and the brain.

Sex benefits aside, watermelon juice (though composed mostly water) offers a strong dose of vitamin C and potassium. It's high in simple sugars like other fruit juices are, but still a much better bet than the totally empty calories of soda. If you can't find pure watermelon juice locally, then you can easily make your own by tossing cubes of watermelon into the blender. Watermelon can stain your sheets, er, clothes...but, given the side effects, it's probably worth it.
