On Anniversary of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes' Death, We Pay Tribute to Her Inspiring Lyrics

It’s been 12 years since the music industry lost one of its brightest talents, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes from the trailblazing Hip-hop/R&B trio TLC; Lopes tragically lost her life in a car accident at the age of 30. Her fans and peers continue to mourn the untimely loss, though her music and influence lives well beyond her too-short career. Lopes, who was known for her outspoken personality, was on vacation volunteering in Honduras when she passed away.

Bandmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins commented in a statement, "We had all grown up together and were as close as a family...We have truly lost our sister.” In memory of Lopes’ talent, humanitarian spirit, and impact on an entire generation of fans, let’s take a look back at her most empowering lyrics.
