Jane Levy On Why 'Twin Peaks' Is Her Favorite

by Taylor Ferber

Celebrities can be fangirls, too. Actor Jane Levy proves just that. While on the campaign trail for the release of the fantastic horror film Don't Breathe, Levy teases some of her new projects including a few films, and of course, her appearance in the upcoming Twin Peaks revival. The series return has everyone and their mom talking, and Levy is thrilled. In fact, she embraces the hype and says the cult-classic drama, which dwells from the glorious '90s, is her all-time favorite show. Levy has to remain tight-lipped about about the crime series and what Twin Peaks will look like when fans return to the fictional town for the first time in 10 years. But that doesn't mean she won't celebrate all the show has brought to fans' lives, including her own, thus far.

When it comes to being entertained, Levy means business. "When I watch something, I like to go to a completely different world. Whether that’s fantasy, sci-fi, or a beach town," she says. "I don’t like to watch movies or television that are close to my life. It just feels like, ‘Eh, I experience that every day,'" the 26-year-old claims. As she explains, Twin Peaks is nothing short of a mystical escape, which is perhaps why fans are still so obsessed after all these years.

"There’s something so magical, spiritual, and calming to me about that foggy town. When I watch it, I really feel like I’m dreaming or something, like I’m literally in an alternative life," Levy says. "It’s escapism, really. I love the music, I love the cast, I love the costumes, I love the time — you can’t tell if it’s the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘90s."

And who doesn't love getting lost in a mysterious psychological thriller? "I love mysteries, so it really is my ultimate favorite thing and I still can’t even believe that I worked on it, actually," she says. Levy understandably continues to pinch herself, remembering her involvement in the shooting process. "‘Did that really happen?,'" she asks. "I'm really excited."

For Levy, this is truly a dream come true. She's honored to step into the iconic Twin Peaks world and join original cast members such as Kyle MacLachlan (Special Agent Dale Cooper), Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), and Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson) who are reportedly returning to the show. Although storylines and some characters are unknown, fans do know this: The Twin Peaks revival is supposedly coming in the first half of 2017 with an "unconventional" premiere.

So far, Showtime has released this ambiguous trailer as fan theories populate the internet. TP co-creator Mark Frost's book The Secret History of Twin Peaks has clues including the following: "Twenty-five years [after Dale Cooper's investigation of the murder of Laura Palmer], the FBI gets hold of a box it won't divulge the provenance of. In the box, a huge dossier."

It's bound to be epic and knowing Levy is such a huge fan makes me that much more excited to see her immersed in the one-and-only Twin Peaks.
