Oscars 2014 After Party Looks We Wish We Saw on the Red Carpet

While this year's Academy Awards red carpet had some gorgeous gowns (you go, Lupita), sometimes people forget that the Oscar after parties are full of even more celebrities and even more fashion. With a lot of Oscar nominees opting for neutral tones and simple silhouettes, the Vanity Fair and Elton John after parties were full of more bold, interesting, patterned, textured, and bright gowns — perfect for anyone who was, well, just a little bit bored with this year's fashion. Here are 11 Oscars after party looks that we would have loved to see on the red carpet.

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson’s red carpet dress was a fan favorite, but I think her after party look was even more stunning. I mean, that train.

Taylor Swift

It just seems like a red carpet without Taylor Swift isn’t really a red carpet at all.

Jaime King

Where were all the red carpet dresses that made us say, “Wow, I’ve never seen a dress quite like that before?” That’s exactly what Jaime King’s after party looks makes me think, and I love it.

Emmy Rossum

With so many simple, strapless silhouettes at the Oscars, we love that Rossum wore something that was a totally different shape.

Elizabeth Banks

While Banks’ skirt and top might have been a little too casual for the Oscars, it would have been nice to see something with feathers or jeweled embellishments (Cate Blanchett got this right).

Kourtney Kardashian

Who says Ellen is the only woman who can rock a suit? This look on Kourtney Kardashian was totally unexpected and 100 percent chic.

Allison Williams

Allison Williams was rocking a whole lot of pink last night, and it was awesome.

Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson

Diana Kruger and Joshua Jackson are too adorable and too stylish to be not be shown together. Kruger’s lace gown is a definite risk, and very different, but pays off. It would have been nice to see something this bold on the red carpet.

Leslie Mann

Where were all the bright colors on the red carpet? Other than J-Law’s red Dior gown, there wasn’t a whole lot of bold color going on. Love this yellow on Mann, and we’re glad she actually decided to go bright.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

This pastel shade is gorgeous. And so is this lovely lady.

Karolina Kurkova

A lace dress that is totally modern, definitely sexy, and very different than usual award show gowns? I vote yes.
