What If FOX Cast new Batman series 'Gotham' with more 'O.C.' cast members?
First, let's acknowledge how incredibly great it is that this O.C. alum is returning to FOX. And how fitting it is that Ben McKenzie starring in its new Batman origin series, Gotham , on the very same network that served as the origin of his broody, wife-beater-wearing fame with The O.C.
Now that we're done with that — McKenzie's pre-comissioner Detective James Gordon just got some new neighbors in Gotham City. According to E! News, it's been announced that iconic Batman villain The Penguin (or Oswald Cobblepot), beloved confidant Alfred Pennyworth, Gordon's future wife Barbara Kean, and Gordon's boss Captain Essen have all been cast. The roles will be played by The Walking Dead's Robin Lord Taylor, Sean Pertwee, Being Human's Erin Richards, and Burn Notice's Zabryna Guevara respectively. And so the "operatic soap" has begun to take shape.
There's yet to be an announcement of who will play young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Which obviously got us thinking — what is FOX cast Gotham as if it were the O.C. reunion we desperately wish we got for it's 10-year anniversary?

Marissa Cooper as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Even though Marissa was, in fact, Ryan’s soulmate — I can’t justify casting her as Barbara Kean. She did a lot more harm than good and she had some seriously sticky fingers.
Taylor Townsend as Barbara Kean
Now this makes the most sense. Taylor was brilliant and really developed into a great character. Her and Ryan (as Detective Gordon) would make a great team. Also, she could definitely handle working in an emergency room, she was so great with her mom when she shot her in the foot with a flare gun by accident.
Sandy Cohen as Alfred Pennyworth
The wisest of wise — I mean, anyone with such epic eyebrows has to be the wisest of all men and beasts. And if that doesn’t describe Sandy Cohen, I don’t know what does.
Oliver Trask as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow
Remember this guy? He was bat-shit crazy. Hence we’ve cast him as one of the craziest of Batman’s crazy villains.
Kevin Volchok as Bane
You definitely remember this guy. Volchok basically killed Marissa (even though she apparently had to coming to her the entire time) and all he ever wanted to do was stir up trouble. (Like when he keyed “Little Bitch” into Ryan’s Range Rover.)
Trey Atwood as The Joker
Trey was emotionally manipulative and kind of depraved during his run on The O.C. (remember when he tried to rape Marissa) so this would just work. Also, you can just see Joker makeup looking amazing on that face.
Kaitlin Cooper as Harley Quinn
Tiny, evil, and so incredibly manipulative — hence being nicknamed “Mini-Julie Cooper”. Quinn also chased the Joker up to the top of a damaged building and caused him to fall to his death — sounds a lot like when Kaitlin fed Johnny a little too much tequila and he fell to his death off a cliff at the beach.
Kirsten Cohen as Captain Essen
We’re not really sure about what Captain Essen’s story is but Kirsten did a great job being the Newport Group’s boss, so we’d be willing to bet that she’d do a great job bossing around a bunch of police officers.
Ché as Mr. Freeze
I hope you didn’t forget that Chris Pratt was on The O.C. — but anyway, Freeze is a scientist that can only exist while cryogenically frozen. Ché was an activist and enjoyed setting animals free from science labs/cages/etc. So perhaps on of his rescue missions when horribly wrong and he ended up depending on a subzero suit for all time — anything’s possible.
Caleb Nichol as Oswold Cobblepot/The Penguin
We don’t know if Caleb liked penguins — but we do know he had on-call muscle men and private investigators (remember when he beat up Lance to get Julie’s porno) and he did a significant amount of illegal business through the Newport Group. Thus, it only makes sense to cast him as Cobblepot.
Seth Cohen as The Riddler
We didn’t want to shake everything up too much — I mean, anyone knows that Ryan Atwood would make the perfect Batman and Seth Cohen would be the perfect Robin. Like, just perfect. But we won’t go there because Atwood will be just fine as Gordon.
Instead, we’ll cast Cohen as The Riddler and suppress our strong feelings otherwise. Maybe they can become friends eventually? Here’s hoping.
