If you thought that Russell Brand's reaction to a heckler was the best reaction to a heckler in the history of reactions to hecklers (cough Dave Chappelle cough), then you, my friend, should read this post. According to The Wrap, when he was heckled by an audience member in Santa Barbara during a film festival, Jared Leto invited his heckler backstage for a "heart-to-heart" with the person, to figure out the source of their need to heckle.
Apparently, the audience member didn't feel that Leto had the right to play a transgendered character (as he does in Dallas Buyer's Club), and yelled out the following as Leto was on-stage being honored with a Santa Barbara International Film Festival award: "You don’t deserve an award...trans misogyny does not deserve an award!" According to witnesses, the audience member appeared to be a transgendered woman, but that's not confirmed.
When Leto asked the heckler to repeat the statement, the audience member shouted out the following: "You’re a man! You shouldn’t play a transgendered role!"
According to The Guardian, Leto's response was nothing short of interested, and he responded with the following: "Then you've made sure people that are gay, people that aren't straight, people like the Rayons of the world would never have the opportunity to turn the tables and explore parts of that art." He then invited the heckler backstage to continue the discussion, which they reportedly did.
But seriously, how great is Jared Leto?
