Big news from supermodel/the best reality show host ever. According to an Instagram posted late Wednesday, Tyra Banks is a new mom to a baby boy with the help of a surrogate — and she's understandably overjoyed to share the big news with all of her fans. "The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here," Banks wrote in the caption of her Instagram announcement, referencing her boyfriend of over two years, Erik Asla. "He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world."
Banks has been open in the past about her struggles with conceiving a child of her own, so the announcement is an especially touching one. Back in September of 2015, Banks shared on Tyra Presents FABLife that she had been undergoing IVF treatments in an attempt to conceive with Asla, and that she was not giving up on her dream of having not one, but multiple children. "I've had some not happy moments with that, very traumatic moments... it's difficult as you get older. It's not something that can just happen," she said at the time. "I hope [for kids]. I don't just want one child. I want a litter!"
Banks' struggles make her announcement that much more special. Congrats to the happy family!
