A North West-Inspired Balmain Kids Line Is Coming
With a stylish set of parents, it's no surprise that North West is one trendsetting toddler. So much so, that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter inspired Balmain Kids, which is coming out in June both in stores and online. Designer Olivier Rousteing explained how the concept of a kids line came to him after he created mini-Balmain pieces for the young fashionista.
“I think I first thought about designing kidswear when I dressed North,” Rousteing said. “I had a conversation with Kim, and that was the beginning of how I really understood that the Balmain universe can also belong to kids.” Photos from the 55-piece Balmain Kids debuted online today, with the latest — and youngest — members of Rousteing's ever-growing #BalmainArmy modeling pieces from the collection. The new line looks strikingly similar to the label's military glam aesthetic, but the designs are more age-appropriate and truly North West-inspired (fur coat and all).
“When you see the Balmain children’s pieces, you can see the references that are actually part of the Balmain women’s and men’s wardrobes,” Rousteing said. "Balmain is also about diversity, and I think the casting and the pictures show that no matter where you come from, the Balmain army is open and all the kids from the world are a part of it." Rousteing said that seeing mini-versions of his designs, such as his signature double-breasted jacket "is just like heaven!"
These chic ballerina-themed pieces is reminiscent of North and Penelope Disick's everyday style.
I mean, it's obvious, right?
The black tulle skirt is basically North's signature piece.
Can't forget her fur coats, though.
It was clear that she was going to be the inspiration for a kids line when she strutted around in her custom Balmain 'fits.
I can't speak for her obviously, but my guess is that North West is pretty excited about this collection. I'm sure she'll get first dibs.
