During the final part of the Real Housewives of Orange County reunion, Vicki Gunvalson was grilled about Brooks Ayers' health. We still don't know what the real story is, although Brooks said that he has cancer, but Vicki changed her tune a bit, saying her gut feels like he doesn't. But, that wasn't even the most shocking reveal of the night. At one point, Andy Cohen asked Vicki if she was afraid of Brooks, and she timidly nodded her head "yes," and went on to claim that Brooks allegedly verbally abused her.
Now Vicki is telling a different story than the one she told during the taped reunion. Speaking to All About The Tea, in an interview posted Friday, she said, “I have no fear in Brooks and am not filing any restraining order. Another bunch of lies from Radar Online."
But, during the reunion, her daughter Briana claims that she saw Brooks get physical with Vicki on more than on occasion. In one instance, Briana claims that she saw Brooks shake her mom so hard that her head was going back-and-forth. While Vicki reiterated that, to her, any abuse was only verbal, and she didn't classify the shaking incident as physical abuse, the claims are alarming.
Andy previously sat down with Brooks before the reunion to address the season's controversies. Because the allegations of any type of abuse hadn't been brought up at the point of Brooks' one-on-one with Andy, fans of the show weren't able to hear Brooks' comments on the issue at the time of the reunion. Bustle reached out to Bravo regarding Brooks' side of the story, but has yet to hear back.
Vicki's personal life has been the subject of the show for many years, and she has also dealt with a lot of loss, especially this season. But, maybe with her relationship over, she can put that part of her life behind her. Briana and Vicki seemed to be closer than ever at the reunion, holding hands while supporting each other. My hope is that these two can continue to work on their relationship — and hey, maybe Briana can even move back to the O.C. It's never easy to have a breakup with someone, but maybe Vicki and Brooks' was for the best.
