Porn stars — they're just like us! — and contrary to popular belief, have many of the same hopes, dreams and career goals that we do. A new video from Adult Empire reveals what porn stars would be doing if they weren't in porn, and these dream jobs are as opposite from adult entertainment as you can get (and don't require sexual gymnastics or industrial strength lube). Interestingly, a lot of the vocations that our favorite adult actors had in mind before they got into the business fall under the "caregiving" umbrella, which kinda makes sense, because sex work definitely requires a lot of care and a lot of giving.
Although these porn actors didn't pursue the careers they mention in the video — yet — many adult entertainers do successfully make the switch to radically different careers (despite the stigma that sometimes follows them). The Hungarian adult actress once known as Cicciolina made the move from porn to politics in the 1980's, Fredrik Eklund, now part of Bravo's hit show, Million Dollar Listing used to act in porn under the name Tag Eriksson, and CoCo Brown is poised to be the first porn star to be sent to space.
Here are six surprising porn star dream jobs that prove there's a lot more to porn actors than their private parts:
1. Criminal Psychologist
Nicole Aniston says she'd be "going prison to prison" analyzing inmates if she wasn't in porn. That, or she'd be a sniper.
2. Marine Biologist
Jada Stevens loves marine life, so marine biologist was an easy choice for her.
3. Ducati Technician
Bonnie Rotten knows a thing or two about mechanics and is a big fan of motorcycles, and toyed with going to school for it.
4. Teacher
Pre-porn, Riley Reid was inspired to work with young children as a teacher, tutor or mentor of some kind.
5. Pediatric Oncologist
If she hadn't entered porn, Kendra Lust would have pursued pediatric oncology because she "loves kids" and would enjoy helping families cope with the devastating illness.
6. Restauranteur/Chef
If Joanna Angel wasn't employed at her current dream job, she would own a restaurant where she would be head chef — and would design the menu to suit her fancy each day.
