How To Achieve Bella Hadid's Glow On A Budget
Want to know the secret to Bella Hadid's glowing skin? The answer is a bit pricey. In an interview with Allure, makeup artist, Vincent Oquendo revealed how he creates her signature supermodel glow. While scrolling through the article, I noticed Oquendo uses several luxury beauty products in order to create her look. While this may be an option for some, I'm on more of a drugstore budget myself, and happen to think that a supermodel salary shouldn't be required for supermodel-status makeup.
Luminous, glowing skin tends to be the main focus of Bella's makeup look. With highlighted cheekbones and a bit of subtle bronzing, it's no wonder that this beauty rules the runway. When it comes to working with Bella, Oquendo says that he likes to keep it natural. "Bella is the type of woman who doesn't need very much makeup, so we were trying to figure out a way to translate her natural glow on the red carpet without using a lot," he told Allure. A natural glow without a lot of products? Sounds like a dream come true. Wondering how to dupe the supermodel's glamorous beauty routine? Here are a few budget-friendly options for recreating Bella Hadid's signature glow.
1. Moisturizer
Bella's Choice
Jurlique Cream Mask, $32, Amazon
When it comes to prepping the skin for makeup, it's all about that base. Having hydrated skin is key when creating a dewy, fresh-faced look. The Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturizing Cream Mask provides a deeply hydrating facial that can be used as a mask or as an evening moisturizer. This product is great for those with extra dehydrated skin.
My Pick
Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Mask, $17, Amazon
The Burt's Bee's Intense Hydration Treatment Mask is an excellent dupe for the Jurlique mask. This mask is formulated to be 99 percent natural while leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated.
2. Liquid Luminizer
Bella's Choice
Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base, $48, Nordstrom
In order to achieve that lit from within look, add a bit of liquid highlighter to your usual foundation. This will give your skin a dewy appearance without being overly shiny. Oquendo uses the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance. Allure happily reports you can be sparing with this product. Just a touch of the champagne-colored luminizer is all you need to look like the stunning supermodel (which is great, since it means the bottle will last forever).
My Pick
Boots No7 Skin Illuminator, $10, Walgreens
Burberry's bottle might be a bit more luxe, but I'm a huge fan of the Boots No7 Skin Illuminator in Peach. Mix with foundation or wear alone on the high points of the face for a stunning look.
3. Foundation
Bella's Choice
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, $45, Sephora
When it comes to creating a flawless base makeup, Oquendo reached for NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Punjab. This sheer liquid foundation offers medium to buildable coverage, and leaves the skin looking luminous.
My Pick
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup, $13, Amazon
The Internet swears by this product as an affordable alternative to the NARS foundation. This natural looking foundation gives the skin a luminous look while providing an SPF. Talk about a win-win.
4. Concealer
Bella's Choice
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $35, Sephora
If there are any blemishes peeking through the foundation, Oquendo likes to cover them up with the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer. This creamy concealer offers two shades in order to create a formula that perfectly matches your skin's tone.
My Pick
Sonia Kashuk Palette, $11, Target
The Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda palette is great for those who want to create their own custom shade of concealer as well. With multiple shades and undertones available in the palette, it's a great one-stop-shop for all of your concealing needs.
5. Bronzer/Highlighter
Bella's Choice
Charlotte Tilbury Palette, $80, Nordstrom
When it comes to contouring and highlighting, Oquendo uses cream products in order to achieve a seamless look. "I'll dip my brush into the cream and then blend it beneath the cheekbones with four or five passes, creating a Nike swoosh shape," he told Allure . Then the makeup artist, applies the cream highlighter to the cheekbones and blends downwards. This gives the appearance that the two products have melted together. Oquendo used the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow in Sun Tan and Sun Light to create Hadid's sunny glow.
My Pick
Stila Shape And Shade Palette, $40, Amazon
While the highlight might not have as much shimmer as the Charlotte Tilbury option, the Stila Shape & Shade palette is still a great alternative. These cream highlighting and bronzing palette is amazing for carving out cheekbones and giving dimension to the face.
Personally, I like mixing highs and lows when it comes to makeup, so I'm still all for splurging on one or two of Hadid's faves. After all, she clearly knows her stuff when it comes to a glowing complexion.
