Why Did Emilia Clarke Skip The Emmys Red Carpet?

Holy Mother of Dragons! Emilia Clarke skipped the 2015 Emmys red carpet! I was so looking forward to her rolling in like a true Khaleesi in some gorgeous outfit (preferably with cutouts, because obviously). The actress was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, which is just one of a whopping 24 nominations that Game of Thrones has earned this year. But, alas, it seems something kept her away from the Los Angeles venue where the awards are being held tonight.

According to an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Clarke was at the doctor's office when she heard the news of her nomination. "It was a very embarrassing moment. There's a lovely British girl waiting in the doctor’s office, and you've got the best news ever, and you’re very excited and a bit loud on the phone. All you want to do is just scream and shout, and you have all these people glaring at you thinking, 'What is that woman on?'" Such a shame she had to skip the carpet! I can't help but wonder what kept her away. Were I nominated for an Emmy, I'd probably show up three hours early (mostly out of confusion since I, well, don't act).

Perhaps the answer lies, like most things these days, on Clarke's social media? The actress posted the following photo about six hours before the Emmys ceremony began.

Maybe she's working on a new project that's filming in Spain? The #bringithomegot hashtag leads me to believe she won't be making the awards show at all. At least she looks adorable in black skinny jeans, a white tee, and a ponytail. The look might be less glam than what she would have worn to the Emmys, but it also looks a whole lot more comfortable.
